Dementia Awareness Week 2017 officially runs from 14th – 20th May. In Bromley, there will be events running from 14th to 21st May. Events are listed below are largely open to the public, people with dementia and their family and friend carers. Some events you are best to book in advance and some are invitation only. Making Orpington High Street Dementia Friendly

Orpington High Street is leading the way, making Bromley and dementia friendly community.

The virtual dementia bus will be giving invited guests from the local community, services and businesses, an experience of what dementia can be like. Participants will gain insight into how dementia can affect people and how they, services and businesses can better support people with dementia.

Bromley dementia services will be hosted by Tesco Orpington so members of the public can find out more about local support available or just find out more about memory problems and dementia.

 

Odeon Cinema’s Dementia Friendly Film Screening, Orpington

Odeon Cinema in Orpington will be running the first Dementia Friendly screening of a movie in Odeon Cinemas in the UK. The 2008 movie, Mamma Mia, will be the film for this Dementia Friendly screening.

A free, Dementia-friendly screening that will feature specially curated clips of archive films that travel through various themes and are designed to inspire reminiscence, highlighting the social history of Bromley as well as key national events of the 20th century.
